Community Ads Rules

Last Updated: August 13, 2026

Community Ads let eligible supporters publish a small listing promoting something they offer to the WoW PvP community. You are responsible for delivering what you advertise; Seramate is not a party to any transaction that results from an ad. These rules sit alongside our Terms of Service.

1. Who Can Post

Community Ads are a perk of the Exalted tier on Patreon. You need a Seramate account with a linked Patreon account pledging at or above that tier. Eligibility follows your current pledge, so it ends if your membership lapses or is downgraded.

Each supporter may keep three ads at a time; deleting one frees its slot immediately. Slots are personal and may not be sold, shared or transferred, and you are responsible for everything published from your account.

2. Format

An ad is served in more than one shape: a wide unit with your image beside your text, and a narrower card with the image above it. Without an image the text fills the unit. An ad is six things:

  • Square image — optional. Square, PNG, JPEG or WebP, max 500 KB. Shown whole in the wide units, cropped to 16:9 in the card ones.
  • Wide image — optional. 16:9 (1280×720, say), same formats and limit. Used in the card shapes instead of cropping the square one.
  • Title — up to 64 characters. Say what you offer; no spam formatting, no false claims of affiliation.
  • Description — up to 128 characters. Describe the offer plainly, in one line.
  • Link — one https destination, leading directly to what you are advertising rather than through a shortener, redirect chain or unrelated landing page.
  • Character — one of your own claimed characters, shown as "Community ad by Name" and linked to its Seramate profile. Nothing else about your account is published with it; somebody else's character is rejected outright.

Both images are checked on upload; the wrong shape, oversized or corrupt files are rejected.

3. What Is Prohibited

An ad will be rejected, or removed after approval, if it involves:

  • NSFW or sexual content — nudity, sexualised imagery, adult services or adult sites.
  • Anything illegal under applicable law, including unlicensed gambling and any form of fraud.
  • Wintrading or rating manipulation — arranged losses, traded wins, coordinated queueing to farm a rating, or selling any of it. This applies whether the ad names the practice or just advertises the result.
  • Anything that needs your account credentials — piloted boosts, account sales, rentals and trades. Blizzard's terms forbid handing an account to someone else, so an ad for it is an ad for getting its buyer banned. Services you play yourself, such as coaching or self-played carries, are fine.
  • Malware, phishing or drive-by downloads. Links that harvest Battle.net or Seramate credentials cost you the perk permanently.
  • Impersonation of Seramate, Blizzard, a representative of either, or anyone else — including branding that implies endorsement.
  • Misleading claims — guaranteed ratings you cannot deliver, invented credentials, fake pricing, bait-and-switch links.
  • Content targeting or harassing individuals — naming and shaming, doxxing, slurs or hate speech.
  • Third-party tracking dressed up as an ad.
  • Direct competitors — sites or services whose core offering is what Seramate itself provides (PvP leaderboards, ladder statistics, character profiles and similar). Community projects that complement the site are welcome; replacements for it are not.

4. Review

Every new ad enters review before it goes live; nothing is published automatically. We approve it or reject it with a reason, and that reason appears on your ads page so you can fix it and resubmit.

Editing an ad's images, title, link, description or character sends it back to review, removing an image included. Pausing and resuming does not.

We do not commit to a review turnaround. Review is a check against these rules, not an endorsement of what you are selling.

5. Enforcement

We may reject, pause or remove any ad at our discretion, including after approval — for example if the destination link changes after review, or if we receive credible reports about the service.

Repeated violations, or a single serious one, may cost you access to Community Ads without a refund of your pledge: the pledge buys a membership tier, not a placement. Serious abuse may also lead to action on your account under our Terms of Service.

6. Current Status

Community Ads are rolling out in stages. Supporters can create, edit and manage listings and have them reviewed, but approved ads are not yet displayed to visitors anywhere on the Site. We will announce where they appear before that changes, and update these rules at the same time.

7. Changes to These Rules

We may update these rules as the feature develops. The updated version is posted here with a revised "Last Updated" date; continuing to use Community Ads after an update means you accept it.
