Mythic Analysis: A Look at Ula'tek, the End Boss of The Venomous Abyss

Mythic Ula'tek

Mythic Ula'tek is a huge step up from Heroic difficulty due to major changes to the encounter in all phases. The biggest change is that all eggs spawn protected by a shield that must be broken to pick them up. In addition, while holding an egg, players who bump into each other will cause their eggs to hatch, likely causing a wipe.

Ula'tek

The great shame of the Amani empire. The vast complex of Altal'Utek was created to imprison the weapon that proved to be as much of a threat as the enemy she was intended to destroy. Ula'tek has risen from her ancient slumber and threatens all of Azeroth if she should escape.

Overview

Ula'tek splashes venom across her platform with Caustic Waves. Any Blightscale Spawn that touch her venom hatches and covers players in a Putrid Membrane. While her slithering children continue to spawn, Ula'tek uses her Spectral Coils to shatter the space.

After Ula'tek rails against her prison with Rage of the Shackled she summons her faithful then dives beneath the venom to gather her strength. Ula'tek's Doomscale Wardens move between the Blightscale Spawn imbuing them with Writhing Gestation as the Doomscale Eggs begin to hatch.

With her progeny broken, Ula'tek shatters the arena. She continues to use Call of the Serpent to gather her forces while destroying the only safe spaces remaining with Circling Prey.

Damage Dealers:
- Blightscale Spawn hatch a Blightscale Viper when they connect with venom.
- A Blightscale Clutch grows in power unless destroyed.
- Doomscale Wardens use Writhing Gestation on nearby Blightscale Spawn.
Healers:
- Every Blightscale Viper hatched inflicts Putrid Membrane to all players.
- Spectral Coils inflicts damage to everyone that is reduced by the number of players at the impact location.
Tank:
- Ula'tek uses Unchecked Rage while not engaged in melee combat.
- Ula'tek's Gore Rattle uses Rattler Slam while not engaged in melee combat.
- Mother's Wrath inflicts damage to everyone while no one is in its area of effect.

Blightscale Spawn (Normal, Heroic, Raid Finder)

The endless spawn of Ula'tek. These eggs go through rapid gestation and hatch whenever they come into contact with the venom that fills Ula'tek's prison.

Malignant Shell: Ula'tek's eggs are covered in a viscous shell that sticks to players who touch them, inflicting 12 Nature damage every 1 sec while attached.
Putrid Membrane: When Ula'tek's eggs hatch a Blightscale Viper, they spray a membrane over all players that inflicts 4 Nature damage every 1 sec for 1 hour.
Blightscale Rawling (Normal, Raid Finder): Broken from their shells early, the Blightscale Rawling struggles to survive.
Blightscale Rawling (Heroic): Broken from their shells early, the Blightscale Rawling struggles to survive. On Heroic difficulty, Blightscale Rawlings cast Poisonous Bite on players.
- Poisonous Bite: The Blightscale Rawling's bite inflicts 3 Nature damage every 1 sec to their current target for 10 sec. This effect stacks.
Blightscale Viper (Normal, Raid Finder): Fully gestated, the Blightscale Viper is a lethal predator.
- Acidic Burst: The viper spits at a random player, inflicting 375,033 Nature damage on impact and an additional 58,338 Nature damage every 1 sec for 18 sec.
- Petrifying Sting (Mythic, Heroic): The Viper dives at a random player, turning players within 10 yards of the location to stone, absorbing the next 2,131,473 healing and inflicting 100,009 Nature damage every 2 sec.
Blightscale Viper (Heroic): Fully gestated, the Blightscale Viper is a lethal predator. On Heroic difficulty, Blightscale Vipers cast Petrifying Sting on players.
- Acidic Burst: The viper spits at a random player, inflicting 375,033 Nature damage on impact and an additional 58,338 Nature damage every 1 sec for 18 sec.

Blightscale Spawn (Mythic)

The endless spawn of Ula'tek. These eggs go through rapid gestation and hatch whenever they come into contact with the venom that fills Ula'tek's prison.

On Mythic difficulty, Blightscale Spawn are Hardened and cast Noxious Shell on players that pick them up.

Hardened: The shell of the Blightscale Spawn absorbs the next 4,618,190 damage. While the spawn's shell is hardened, it cannot be moved.
Noxious Shell: Ula'tek's noxious eggs inflict 12 Nature damage every 1 sec while attached to a player. Moving within 3 yards of another player carrying a Noxious Shell causes a Noxious Splash. When the aura is removed, the egg inflicts Rancid Yolk on the player.
- Noxious Splash: Moving within 3 yards of another player carrying a Noxious Shell causes it to instantly hatch and inflicts 750,065 Nature damage and an additional 541,714 Nature damage every 1 sec to the carrier for 10 sec.
- Rancid Yolk: The egg breaks, spilling Rancid Yolk over the player and increasing the damage inflicted from Noxious Shell by 200% for 20 sec.
Putrid Membrane: When Ula'tek's eggs hatch a Blightscale Viper, they spray a membrane over all players that inflicts 4 Nature damage every 1 sec for 1 hour.
Blightscale Rawling (Mythic): Broken from their shells early, the Blightscale Rawling struggles to survive. On Mythic difficulty, Blightscale Rawlings cast Boiling Venom which grants them the ability to use Acidic Expulsion.
- Boiling Venom: After 25 sec the Blightscale's venom boils, increasing its haste by 100% and all damage done by 100%.
- Acidic Expulsion: The Blightscale expulses venom, inflicting 150,013 Nature damage on impact and an additional 41,670 Nature damage every 1 sec to all players for 35 sec.
- Poisonous Bite: The Blightscale Rawling's bite inflicts 3 Nature damage every 1 sec to their current target for 10 sec. This effect stacks.
Blightscale Viper (Mythic): Fully gestated, the Blightscale Viper is a lethal predator.
- Acidic Burst: The viper spits at a random player, inflicting 375,033 Nature damage on impact and an additional 58,338 Nature damage every 1 sec for 18 sec.

Stage One: Fury of the Serpent Mother

Toxic Womb (Mythic): Ula'tek rips a gestating Blightscale Wretch from the ceiling that inflicts 917,000 Nature damage to players within 7 yards of the impact location. Torn from its incubation, the Blightscale Wretch will awaken after 20 sec.
- Blightscale Wretch:
  - Boiling Venom: After 30 sec the Blightscale's venom boils, increasing its haste by 100% and all damage done by 100%.
  - Fester Burst: The Blightscale Wretch forms a festering membrane around itself which bursts, inflicting 542,000 Nature damage on impact and an additional 100,000 Nature damage every 1 sec to players farther than 10 yards away for 12 sec.
Toxic Incubation (Mythic): A spectral Ula'tek unleashes a cascade of venom towards the Blightscale Wretch, applying Mother's Boon every 1 sec for 4 sec. If a player intercepts the venom, it inflicts 75 Nature damage and applies Toxic Burn to them instead. Each impact causes Caustic Waves to erupt from the target's location.
- Mother's Boon: Each application of Mother's Boon the Blightscale Wretch receives reduces their damage taken by 10% and increases their damage done by 15%. This effect stacks.
- Toxic Burn: The player's skin sizzles, inflicting 35 Nature damage every 2 sec for 12 sec. This effect stacks.
Caustic Waves: Ula'tek sends waves of venom across the platform, inflicting 917,186 Nature damage on impact and an additional 540,199 Nature damage every 1 sec for 10 sec to players in their path. This effect stacks. Waves that connect with Ula'tek's eggs cause them to instantly hatch.
Call of the Serpent: Ula'tek roars, causing her spawn to fall from the ceiling and inflict 110 Nature damage to players within 4 yards of their impact locations.
Mother's Wrath: Ula'tek knocks back her current target, marking them for wrath, inflicting 95 Nature damage every 0.4 sec for 3 sec while within reach of her attack. Each bite injects Ula'tek's target with Stone Venom and leaves them Hobbled. If her current target is outside her reach, Ula'tek inflicts these effects on all players.
- Stone Venom: Ula'tek's venom inflicts 5 Nature damage every 1 sec for 1.7 min. This effect stacks.
- Hobbled: Ula'tek hobbles her current target, reducing their movement speed by 55% for 1 min.
Gore Rattle (Normal, Raid Finder):

- Rattler Slam: While not in melee combat, Ula'tek's tail slams the platform, inflicting 916,746 Nature damage to all players.

Ula'tek's Bond: All aspects of Ula'tek's form share damage taken.
Rage of the Shackled: Ula'tek rages, inflicting 41,670 Nature damage every 4 sec to all players for 20 sec and causing Falling Debris to impact several random destinations. Flying into this rage exposes Ula'tek's Venomous Heart.
- Falling Debris: Falling debris drops onto several random destinations, inflicting 2,500,217 Nature damage to players within 7 yards of the impact locations.
- Venomous Heart: The beating core of Ula'tek. All damage taken by the Venomous Heart is shared across all aspects of Ula'tek.
